Freshman year reflection essay bikes Freshman year is probably one of the scariest, most exciting, stressful, unique, and crazy experiences of a persons life. I’m going to be a freshman in college next year and to be honest I am so scared, words cannot even describe how I feel about finally leaving the nest and actually starting my own life. For me it's hard to wrap my head around that this time has finally come, elementary, middle, and high school have flown right by and have been some of the best and worst years of my life but worth every memory. College will be a totally foreign world to me when I go into my freshman Year but I look forward to it all. I found it interesting that a college professor would take time out of her life to figure out what life is like in college these days and how different it from when she was a freshman. She in my opinion cares about her students. According to Nathan (2004)“I decided then to become a student by formally applying to the university, by registering for and taking courses, and by moving into a dorm hence setting the stage to view undergraduate life as both an observer interviewer and a participant”( p. x). She began to realize how difficult it actually was to be a freshman in a completely new environment and how stressful, and time consuming it can all be. Dorms. The tiny rooms I have to live in my first two years depending on the school, they usually tend to be on average 12 x 19 feet. Simply put that is tiny, and I have a lot of stuff to say the least it is amazing how much “stuff” a student can pack into this tiny space. According to Nathan(2004) “In addition to articles like mine, they had joysticks, couches, mountain bikes, ski and sports equipment, guitars and keyboards, large and elaborate sound systems, multiple – layered electronics shelves holding TV’s, VCRs, DVD players, refrigerators, tables, cabinets, floor and pole lamps, overstuffed throw pillows, as well as coffeemakers, slow cookers, and illegal sandwich grills”(p. 19 ). To say the least that’s a lot of “stuff”. Even though it is a lot, its everything an average student would need to survive the first year and all this stuff would somewhat feel like a reminder of home since this would be our new “home”. I personally would do the same thing by bringing a bunch of items that would remind me of home, anything that would help me feel more comfortable in my new environment. I’m excited to gain a roommate someone I could befriend, hopefully. But I would try to keep my dorm case studies with portfolio u vrticu as simple as possible, even though I’m pretty sure that would not happen. According to Nathan (2004)“Each room contained two single beds, a small sink and mirror, a large built – in armoire, and a double desk running the width of the room with multiple drawers and bookshelves, but almost all residents add creatively to the available storage space (p. 20). My dorm will clearly reflect me, when I move I think I will enjoy living in a dorm. Dorms I believe are a fun way to connect with someone new, and to learn to be independent. But there is so much more to college besides just living in a dorm. Besides living in dorms going to classes, parties, etc. There are other things I can do as a freshman. Most people think that most students go to classes then just relax the rest of the day but that’s not the case for a good portion of students. According to Nathan(2004) “In total, two – thirds need help do my essay psychiatry as a career all students were working, including 54 percent of the first – year students and 88 percent of seniors. Nationally, full – time students worked an average of ten hours per week”(p. 34 ). Many need help do my essay psychiatry as a career involve themselves with work and clubs. I know I will cheap dissertation chapter writers site for university joining a sorority mainly because they are a positive aspect in the college life, they do community service, by helping out with fundraisers and other events around the college campus. I will also have a job to be making some money for myself so I can eventually move into my own apartment off campus. According to Nathan (2004) “Many Students who spoke with me viewed clubs need help do my essay psychiatry as a career community work with this same eye for career”(p. 34 gladly help you we are lucky. I think that by doing community service and joining clubs will help me discover what else I love to do, and possibly what I could major in. By doing things that get me involved with the community, and fundraisers it could possibly lead to a job, because I would be meeting new people such as associates, assistants, etc. I would love doing all of this in my freshman year it wont make it any easier but at least ill enjoy it. According to Nathan (2004) “The classrooms, which seat about one hundred people, are tiered lecture halls with chairs that are fixed in place. Students don’t generally know the names of more than a few others in the class” (p. 90). I think this is partially true because it all depends on case studies with portfolio u vrticu college I choose to go to, some classes way be smaller than fifteen per room. But the portion of this quote I think case studies with portfolio u vrticu true that all freshman will experience is the fact none of us will know each other the first few times, or for the entire time of taking the class. I think it also kind of depends on how social a person is with their peers, I’m a social person myself. I think that I take pretty decent notes when listening to a lecture, but its easier for me to work when there is a power point in front of me that makes my notes that much better. Students don’t always pay attention and that’s understandable especially when its in a subject that’s not particularly exciting, I know I do it sometimes sit there and day dream but everyone does it at some point or another. But I think its important to stay focused especially as a freshman.
